"Basic training", also known as boot camp or military training, refers to the initial period of training that soldiers undergo in order to prepare for military service. Synonyms for basic training include induction, initiation, foundation, basic instruction, fundamental education, and preparatory training. In the civilian world, similar concepts are taught to individuals entering new professions or learning new skills. These may include orientation, onboarding, apprenticeship, internships, and entry-level training. Regardless of the terminology, the goal remains the same: to equip individuals with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their chosen field or occupation.
